  • Adam Schure VMD

As a teenager, Adam Schure vacillated between wanting to be a physician and a veterinarian. But after working summers and vacations at a Pittsburgh veterinary clinic through high school and college, he knew he wanted to be a vet.

Adam did his undergraduate work at Carnegie-Mellon University and earned his VMD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation in 1996, he accepted an internship at a clinic in Scottsdale, and a year later joined Lookout Mountain where Dr. Cook became his long-time mentor and friend.

Adam prides himself on persevering until he solves a problem, and doing so in a most meticulous manner.  He loves helping the families who love their pets.  Dr. Schure believes in treating clients with respect and developing long-term relationships built on trust.

  • Jeff Cook DVM
    Retired

Jeff Cook had always planned to be a medical doctor.  He shifted gears when the Irish Setter he was given as a junior in college needed surgery.  The care his dog received at the Veterinary school at the University of Illinois piqued his interest in veterinary medicine.  And it was at Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his DVM degree four years later.

Jeff moved to Phoenix from Chicago in 1978, attracted by the great weather and family ties.  He opened Lookout Mountain Veterinary Clinic in 1984 with just one employee, and built it into the successful, respected practice it is today.  The clinic is now run by three doctors, more than a dozen technicians and support staff, and several groomers.

Jeff likes not only treating his patients, he enjoys working with the pets’ owners, explaining medical issues in a clear, down-to-earth manner, and helping them make often difficult decisions.  After practicing veterinary medicine for 38 years, he still finds his profession challenging and looks forward to coming to work every day.

  • Celena D. Edens (Formerly Quist) DVM

Celena Edens wrote a book when she was in third grade. It was about how she wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew up. She credits her grandfather with igniting her interest in veterinary medicine, tagging along with him to his Phoenix veterinary hospital when she was just three. But before heading to vet school, Dr. Edens spent many years training and performing as a professional dancer, until the day she felt compelled to fulfill her dream. So, she went back to school, graduating in 2015 from Oklahoma State University with a DVM.

Dr. Edens joined our veterinary family in 2016 and has become an integral, indispensable member of our team. She loves Lookout Mountain’s team approach… three doctors who work together, frequently discussing cases and sharing information.

Celena has a special interest in cats. She not only loves felines; she says she understands their nature, and always has. And she is currently beginning the process of board certification to become a Diplomate with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Feline Specialists.

Celena has a way with people… reading their concerns, and understanding that every client is different, respecting the unique clientele of Lookout Mountain.

  • Courtney Leibering DVM

From a very young age Courtney always dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian. She completed her Bachelor of Pre-Veterinary Science at The University of Arizona before finding herself at Oklahoma State University to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoyed her time in quaint Stillwater, OK, but as an Arizona native was eager to get back to the sunshine, cacti, mountains, friends, and family to begin her career.

Interestingly, the team at Lookout Mountain played an integral part in Courtney’s clinical training both as a Veterinary Intern and Extern during her education. After practicing medicine for a few years after graduation, Courtney was proud to make her journey full circle by returning home to the team at Lookout Mountain as a Veterinarian.

With a strong commitment and enthusiasm for helping people and their pets live long healthy lives together, Courtney enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine especially surgery, dentistry, rehabilitation, and ophthalmology. With her time away from the clinic she loves to seek adventure by traveling and shares her home with her 3 gentle giants- Zokie, Ania and Stanley. Courtney continues to find her career as a Veterinarian to be her dream come true.
